March 2, 2024 – Kelowna, B.C. –  The Canadian Home Builders Association of the Central Okanagan (CHBA-CO) proudly unveiled the recipients of the prestigious 2024 Okanagan Housing Awards of Excellence during a captivating ceremony on Saturday evening. Marking its 31st anniversary, these esteemed awards spotlight the remarkable accomplishments of visionaries in the realms of home building, renovation, and interior design, who have contributed to the advancement of innovative and sustainable housing solutions throughout the Okanagan region.

“The Okanagan Housing Awards spotlight the remarkable talent and dedication within our building, renovation, and design industry.” Says Krista Paine, President of the CHBA-CO. “These awards celebrate the innovative and sustainable housing solutions that are shaping our region. This is a moment to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our members, recognizing their positive impact on the Okanagan’s economy, environment, and overall quality of life.”

Fawdry Homes emerged as the standout achiever of the evening, clinching an impressive total of four awards, including a coveted accolade for energy efficiency. This remarkable feat underscores Fawdry Homes’ unwavering dedication to excellence and commitment to pioneering sustainable practices within the industry.

The 2024 Okanagan Housing Awards of Excellence not only celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals and organizations but also serve as a testament to the collective efforts driving progress and shaping the future of housing in the Okanagan region.

The highlight of the night was the celebration of the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award, Charles ‘Chuck’ Cullen. Chuck has spent over 33 years in the local residential construction industry, helping build Kelowna as we know it since 1990. Chuck was honored by over 550 of his peers with a tribute video and a standing ovation.

“I have been given the opportunity to pass on any knowledge that I have attained in this career to the project coordinators I have worked with, the apprentices, and the young people who wish to be apprentices in the hopes that this knowledge will perpetuate our industry for years to come.” Said Chuck. “I want to dedicate this award, and this moment to not only those who came before me, but also to those who are coming after me.”

This year saw a record-breaking number of entries. The awards were judged by a panel of 22 award-winning judges in home building, renovation, and interior design from across Canada.
