Protecting Buyers and Builders under the new mortgage stress test
CHBA is pleased to announce that, in response to Association concerns and representations, the Office of the Superintendent of Finance Institutions (OSFI) has released additional transition guidance that should ensure buyers of new homes can complete the purchase under the mortgage rules in place at the time they signed the purchase contract, even after the new ‘stress test’ for conventional mortgages comes into effect on January 1, 2018.

The full costing report for the B.C. Energy Step Code is now available. A complete costing study was one of the industry asks from the beginning of the Step Code consultations. Fall Budget Update
“The reality is that government will not be able to build new affordable housing for everyone. In this new strategy, measures to improve market housing affordability for all British Columbians must be considered,” says Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia (CHBA BC) CEO Neil Moody. “The private sector will be an important voice in the consultation process.”
