Best in Housing: Finalists Announced for 2024 Okanagan Housing Awards

December 10, 2023

December 10, 2023 – Kelowna, B.C. – The Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Central Okanagan (CHBA-CO) is pleased to announce the finalists for the 31st Annual Okanagan Housing Awards. The Okanagan Housing Awards celebrate the best projects of the year in new home construction, residential renovation, and interior design.

The evolution of housing in the Okanagan region is unmistakably evident in the diversity and innovation showcased by the finalists of Okanagan Housing Awards. Beyond the remarkable custom homes, these awards spotlight a significant shift toward energy-efficient projects and denser, more sustainable housing solutions like townhomes and low-rise buildings.

“The finalists in the Okanagan Housing Awards of Excellence represent symbols of innovation and dedication within the housing industry.  Being named a finalist in these prestigious awards signifies not only a moment of recognition, but a validation of the team’s commitment, quality, and passion for the success of the industry.” says Krista Paine, CHBA-CO President. “Being a judge for numerous other award associations, I am pleased to see our awards continue to solidify the Okanagan’s position as industry leaders across Canada.”

Finalists in building, renovation, and design categories are selected by a panel of award-winning judges from across Canada. This year saw a record-breaking number of entries as well as a new record for the diversity of companies selected as finalists.

“Building homes is one of the largest economic drivers in our community. These awards showcase the diversity of new construction projects we are seeing.” says Daniel Winer, CHBA-CO Executive Officer. “The Okanagan Housing Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the hard work home builders and their trades have put in over the last year to deliver some of the most beautiful new homes in Canada.”

The housing awards feature single family homes, interior design projects, as well in multifamily and infill construction projects. This year’s Finalists are headlined by Carrington Homes (6 nominations), Align West Homes (5) and Frame Custom Homes (5). On the design side, Hannah Katey Interior Design leads the way with five nominations, followed by Isabey Interiors (3) and Blue Alice Design (2).

“Despite labour shortages, material shortages, and rising interest rates, builders across Canada are working their way through one of the most challenging building seasons of the last several years,” said CHBA CEO Kevin Lee. “The Okanagan Housing Awards recognize not only beautiful projects, but the resiliency of the residential construction industry as a whole. They are wonderfully representative of the variety of homes we have in Canada, particularly the implementation of leading construction techniques for greater energy efficiency.”

The annual Okanagan Housing Awards of Excellence will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
